There are two ways to create a model in the ERP:
- From the central catalog / StockX — Search the ERP's central database (fed in particular by StockX) to automatically retrieve the product's information.
- Manual entry — Fill in all the fields by hand.
Either way, you get there from Catalog > Products > New or via the quick add button (lightning bolt icon) in the product list's action bar.
Creating from the central catalog / StockX
This method is the fastest way to reference a known product. It draws on the ERP's central database, which contains thousands of pre-filled product sheets (mainly sourced from StockX).
Concept
The ERP maintains a central catalog shared across all environments. When a product is searched for:
- The ERP first looks in the central catalog (by SKU).
- If the product isn't there, the ERP queries StockX to find it.
- If it's found on StockX, a sheet is automatically created in the central catalog with: the name, the SKU (StockX styleId), the brand, the color, the size chart type (inferred from gender and product type), the Shopify taxonomy, the customs reference, and the photos.
How to do it
- Open the add form — Click "New product" or use the quick add option from the list.
- Search for the product — In the "Search the Units catalog or StockX" field, enter the product's SKU (e.g.
CW2288-111). - Run the search — Click "Search". The ERP queries the central catalog, then StockX if needed. There may be a wait of a few seconds the first time a product is searched.
- Select the result — If the product is found, its information is displayed (name, SKU, brand, size chart type, photos). When several products match, each one shows the name and the SKU: pick the right one before continuing.
- Complete the form — The fields are pre-filled automatically:
- SKU — Retrieved from the central catalog.
- Title — Product name from StockX.
- Brand / color — Pre-filled attributes.
- Size chart type — Inferred automatically (men, women, kids…).
- Shopify taxonomy — Mapped automatically, if applicable.
- Photos — Copied from the central catalog.
- Adjust if needed — You can change any pre-filled field before confirming.
- Save — Create saves the model and closes the window. Create and new saves it and reopens an empty search, so you can create several products in a row without going back to the list. If a size chart exists for this brand and size chart type, the child products (size variants) can be generated automatically.
Note — Automatic generation of the size variants happens in the background after the model is created, if the conditions are met (known brand + size chart configured for this size chart type). If your brand doesn't have a size chart configured yet, you'll be able to create the variants manually afterward.
Manual creation
If the product doesn't exist in the central catalog or on StockX, or if you'd rather enter the information yourself:
- Open the add form — From the product list, click "New product".
- Enable model mode — Make sure the "This product is a model" switch is on (it's on by default when creating a new entry).
- Fill in the main information:
- SKU — Enter a unique reference.
- Product title — Commercial name, in each configured language.
- Customs reference — Optional but recommended for export.
- Release date — Optional.
- Weight — Required if e-commerce is enabled.
- Fill in the attributes:
- Brand — Required. Choose from the list or create a new value.
- Color, range, gender — Optional, but recommended for filtering.
- Size chart type — Required. Choose the type that matches the product.
- Add the media (Media tab after creation) — Upload the product photos. The central catalog can be used as a source if the product partially exists there (search by SKU in the side panel).
- Save — The model is created.
- Create the variants — If a size chart is configured for this brand + size chart type, the variants are generated automatically. Otherwise, you can create each variant manually from the model's sheet.
Creating a product (variant) manually
To add a single size to an existing model:
- Click "New product".
- Turn off the "This product is a model" switch.
- In the "Parent model" field, search for and select the model to attach this variant to.
- Select the desired size in the corresponding attribute.
- Fill in the prices (retail, promo) and the VAT.
- Save.
