Concept
Size charts let you automatically convert a size between different measurement systems: US, UK, EU, and CM. They're also used to determine the sizes available for a given model, and to automatically generate variants.
A size chart is defined by the combination of a brand and a size chart type (men, women, kids…). For the same brand, there can be several charts depending on the type: a Nike Men chart, a Nike Women chart, a Nike Kids chart, and so on.
Structure
A chart is made up of:
- Columns — Each column represents a measurement system (US, UK, EU, CM). Technically, each column is linked to the brand and the size chart type.
- Rows — Each row represents a size. Rows are aligned across columns by a shared row number. So row 1 of the US column corresponds to row 1 of the UK, EU, and CM columns.
Example — Nike Men:
| Row no. | US | UK | EU | CM |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 7 | 6 | 40 | 25 |
| 2 | 7.5 | 6.5 | 40.5 | 25.5 |
| 3 | 8 | 7 | 41 | 26 |
| 4 | 8.5 | 7.5 | 42 | 26.5 |
| 5 | 9 | 8 | 42.5 | 27 |
Base system
The ERP uses a base system (configurable in settings, US by default). This is the system in which sizes are stored as the main attribute. The other systems (UK, EU, CM) are derived automatically using the chart.
For example, if your base system is "US" and you create a size "9" variant:
sizechart_us= 9sizechart_uk= 8 (derived from the chart)sizechart_eu= 42.5 (derived from the chart)sizechart_cm= 27 (derived from the chart)
Automatic variant generation
When a model is created with a brand and a size chart type that match an existing chart, the ERP can automatically generate all of the size variants. Each row of the chart produces a child product, with its size and equivalences pre-filled.
Managing size charts
You can manage size charts from the product list, via the More > Edit size guides menu (requires permission to edit attribute values). From there, you can create or modify the size correspondences for each brand and type.
