Concept of the module
The Customers module brings together all the people (and companies) you sell to. It is the central record, fed both by your manual entries, by online orders (Shopify, e-commerce site), and by bulk imports from an Excel file.
Each customer record contains two main sections:
- Main information: identity (Individual or Business), contact details, dates, social profiles.
- Addresses: a billing address (always present) and, if needed, several delivery addresses.
The data entered here is automatically reused across the rest of the system:
- The customer's email acts as a unique identifier; you cannot have two customers with the same email.
- On every issued invoice, the customer section (company name, address, EU VAT number, business registration numberβ¦) is taken from the customer record.
- On every sales order (web, shop, dropshipping), the customer is attached and their addresses (billing, delivery) are selected by default.
- On notifications (order confirmation email, shipping email, return alertβ¦), the contact's email is used as the recipient.
- For sales reporting: every payment is linked back to the matching customer to allow analysis (total amount, number of orders, frequencyβ¦).

βββ Order historyGood to know β One shared record, different tabs: "Customers", "Suppliers", and "Companies" share the same underlying mechanism but are shown in separate menus with their own fields. The same contact cannot be both a customer and a supplier β you need to create two separate records.
Individual or Business
When creating a customer, you choose its Type:
- Individual β A person. Identified by title, last name, and first name.
- Business β A company. Enter the company name, the business registration number, and the optional EU VAT number.
The type can be changed later. It determines what appears on invoices:
| Information | Individual | Business |
|---|---|---|
| Address block | Title + last name + first name | Company name + contact's last name + first name |
| Business registration number | Not shown | Shown on the invoice |
| EU VAT number | Not shown | Shown; triggers intra-EU VAT on sales to the EU outside France |
| VAT applied | Standard French VAT | Calculated based on the delivery country and the EU VAT number |
Good to know β For a sale to the EU outside France to a Business, intra-EU VAT (reverse charge) only applies if the EU VAT number is entered and valid. Without this number, standard French VAT still applies.

Customer categories
Customer categories let you segment your records (e.g. "VIP", "Reseller", "Influencer", "First purchase"β¦). They are managed via Tools > Attributes > Customer categories > View values.
On the customer record, the Category field appears in the top panel. You can create new ones on the fly from the form (the + icon next to the selector), if you have permission to do so.
On the list, a Category filter lets you isolate a segment.
