Shopify POS (Point Of Sale) is Shopify's point-of-sale app, used to record a sale directly in a physical store. If you use it alongside your Shopify website, the ERP handles these sales differently from web orders.
Recognizing a POS order
An order coming from POS is automatically identified by the ERP based on its source. On the Web orders list, these orders appear with:
- A reference prefixed with
POS(e.g.POS123456). - A "store" type (different from "web").
They are treated as an in-store sale: the stock unit is found from the internal reference (barcode) scanned at the POS, and then removed from stock immediately.
Special cases
- If the stock reference is scanned correctly in the POS: the ERP finds the exact physical unit sold and decrements it. This is the normal behavior.
- If the reference is not found: no unit is automatically removed from stock (no fallback). An alert lets you manually match the order to a unit present in stock.
Configuration on the Shopify side
On Shopify Admin, for POS sales to come through correctly, the location the till is attached to must be synchronized with an ERP city (see Configuration > Shopify locations). Without this, POS sales cannot be matched to a stock unit.
