Overview
Taxes (mainly VAT) are the tax rates applied across the system to calculate prices excl./incl. VAT on every operation: purchase orders, sales, shipments, invoices, internal sales.
You manage taxes from Tools > Taxes.
List
Columns: Label, Type (VAT / Other), Value, Amount type (Percentage / Fixed amount), On margin (Yes / No), Status.
Create / edit a tax
New button or the edit icon. A new menu opens with:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Tax title | Multi-language label (e.g. "VAT 20%", "Margin VAT", "Eco-contribution", "Exempt"). |
| Tax type | VAT or Other. Determines where the tax appears in selectors. |
| Amount type | Percentage (toggle set to Percentage) or Fixed amount (a fixed amount in euros). Determines how it's calculated. |
| On margin | Toggle. If Yes, VAT applies only to the margin (margin VAT), not to the full price. |
| Value | Numeric value. For Percentage type: 20 for 20%. For Fixed amount type: amount in euros (e.g. 1.50 for €1.50). |
| Status | Enabled / Disabled. A disabled tax no longer appears in selectors but remains on past operations. |
Expected standard taxes
A few standard taxes to keep in place for the system to work properly:
| Tax | Type | On margin | Value | Use |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VAT 20% | VAT | No | 20% | Standard French VAT. |
| Margin VAT | VAT | Yes | 20% | Margin VAT — for purchases from private individuals (resale of second-hand goods). |
| Exempt | VAT | No | 0% | For intra-EU B2B sales under the reverse-charge mechanism. |
Important — Changing a tax's value only affects new calculations. Invoices and operations already issued keep the values that were set at the time they were created. This is intentional, to preserve accounting integrity.
